Ukraine claims to intrude Belgorod Region – BBC

V Selensky has claimed that Ukrainian troops continue to hold positions in Russia’s Belgorod region. Some border villages have been occupied.

The strategy behind this intrusion is about the hope for a better negotiation position in ceasefire and peace talks with Russia.

It is hard to believe that Russia will even consider talks as long as Ukrainian troops are threatening its territory. Much less Russia will talk as long Ukrainian troops are still on Russian territory.

It is a fact that the very long border between Russia and Ukraine can hardly be secured and Ukraine’s intrusions may happen any time, inbparticular, in the current guerilla style.

Russia might need to build up buffer zones in Ukraine before it really gets to peace talks. Russia’s clear message was that something like the Project Ukraine shall never happen again.
