Ukraine: no war without US, no peace without US

President Trump and President Putin will meet on 15 August 2025 in Alaska, to discuss the settlement of the war in Ukraine.

Russia actually is moving forward and is taking more of Ukrainian territory. The collapse of the Ukrainian army is expected to happen, soon, as well as of the Ukrainian state.

For the Western powers, all in advance the US, but also for Russia, an orderly surrender of Ukraine will be the best outcome. Nevertheless, the Selensky regime is strictly opposing to a peace agreement under conditions the US and Russia may agree.

Selensky’s and Ukraine’s existence depend on the US. The last few weeks, it became clear that Europe cannot and will not replace the US in its leading support role for Ukraine. Europe has not the means and not the unity to confront Russia to defend Ukraine. Therefore, it is Trump who decides. And Trump does not want to spend more money and efforts on the lost case of Ukraine.

Now, the largest German tabloid paper, Bild, the most active pro-Ukraine propaganda news outlet, writes of “treason”: Ukraine is afraid of Western treason. In concert, European heads of state are warning Trump not to decide over their heads and include Selensky in the negotiations with Russia. Selensky rules out concessions to Russia and opposes Trump. Selensky wants war and wants the US and Europe to fight directly Russia.

Trump would respond: who pays, decides. Ukraine and its regime were taker of US money and orders, all along the conflict in Ukraine, which was Biden’s War. Now, this has changed and Trump wants to get out of Biden’s War. Ukraine was royally paid by the Biden Administration, but the Trump Administration has not ruled on new payments to Ukraine while Europe, for the time being, is stemming some of the costs of running rest-Ukraine.

Trump has tried and offered to European leaders to take over, in particular, to buy US weapons for Ukraine, but most Europeans sent a friendly “no”. Then, Trump, in a theatralical act, has demonstrated to Europe how easy they can be part of a nuclear conflict with Russia – the Europeans hysterically complained. Europe is now in a corner and needs to accept that only with Trump there is peace. And Trump does not intend to fight for Ukraine’s interests and is willing to accept  Russia’s main demands: which are, mainly, territories and no NATO.

Bild might call this treason but should rather look for who was responsible for the war in Ukraine. Then Bild will have to admit that a deadly NATO eastward expansion doctrine together with a highly corrupt Kiev regime have a substantial part in the responsability for the war and losses in Ukraine. Trump is only rolling back what went wrong under the Obama/Biden Administrations, both would have sacrificed the last Ukrainian for their geopolitical games against Russia – and both paid well the Ukrainian regime for their good services until Trump was elected.
