Yesterday, all news proudly announced that Germany and other Ukraine allies have lifted all and any distance limitation for weapons to be used against Russia.
German Chancellor Merz declared that he has authorized Ukraine to use the German weapons for long range hits deep into Russia.
He does not know his dossier well.
The US and the UK have allowed Kiev to use their long range weapons since last year. ATACAMS and Storm Shadows have been used, almost all have been shot down.
Germany did not provide long range weapons. Germany’s arms sent to Kiev have at maximum a 32km range (self-proelled missiles) or a 54km range (howitzer). All not relevant for Russia. Therefore, for German weapons, there was nothing to lift in terms of distance.
The question remains if Merz will now allow for the delivery of the Taurus missile capable to hit Moscow. His coalition partner SPD may not agree, as before. Russia has declared that the use of Taurus on Russia would be an act of war (as the missiles can only be handled and programmed by German specialists, which equals an attack of Germany on Russia).
For the sake of a rapid peace, Merz should first read his file and understand the matter, and then refrain from any further escalation in this terrible undertaking which is Biden’s (now Europe’s) proxy war.
