Various reports explain that the Ukrainian defenses are completely understaffed and cannot resist to Russian advances.
The Ukrainian front at Dobropilliya has now collapsed. It was reported that this part of Ukraine’s defense system was without sufficient troops. It may be that the Ukrainian troops retreated, giving up their positions in view of the upcoming peace negotiations between Presidents Trump and Putin in Alaska. Ukrainian soldiers may have the usual reflex to abandon their positions, saving their lives, in the days before the war ends unwilling to sacrifice themselves.
The exiled Moscow Times reports: “Russian troops have pierced a small but important section of the front line in eastern Ukraine’s Donetsk region, positioning themselves for a possible encirclement of the nearby city of Pokrovsk.
“The situation is quite chaotic. Having found gaps in the defenses, the enemy is infiltrating deep, trying to quickly entrench and amass forces for further advances,” the Ukrainian open-source intelligence group Deep State wrote in a post on Telegram.
Ukraine’s military said on Monday that Russian troops were “using their advantage in numbers” to push through with small groups and that additional forces had been deployed to “identify and destroy enemy sabotage groups.”
The Ukrainian military keeps a positive picture and announces the deployment of additional troops to stop the Russian advance.
But even Ukrainian bloggers admit that the Russian breakthrough is a major advance on the city of Pokrovsk and its encirclement. Pokrovsk is an important fortification in the Donbass and declared target of Russia’s advance.
The famous US Institute for the Study of War stated that “the next several days will likely be critical for Ukraine’s ability to prevent accelerated Russian gains north and northwest of Pokrovsk.” This statement shows how serious the situation is for Ukraine.
What could motivate Ukrainians in the view of Russsian overall advances and the already clear surrender to Russian demands in the upcoming peace negotiations in Alaska?
