Ukrainian parliamentary majority’s trust in Zelensky is shaken

In a controlled press environment where the European press is “gleichgeschaltet”, ie does not bring critical pieces about the war in Ukraine, the Le Monde article is remarkable.

Le Monde, a leftist, Ukraine war supporting newspaper is suddenly very critical of V Selensky and considers that he might have lost his majority in Parliament, a parliament that has been purged of opposition.

Le Monde refers to the latest corruption related scandals, to Selensky’ effort and failure to take control of the independent anti-corruption authorities and the subsequent arrests of parliament members, politicians, officials and businessmen accused of corruption in the defense sector.

Le Monde reports that “Ukrainian authorities tried to put an end to the country’s most severe political crisis since the war began by announcing the arrests of several corrupt officials, as part of an investigation into a vast system of bribery connected to military procurement contracts.”

The arrests were a part of a PR operation trying to re-esrablish Sekensky’s credibility but according to Le Monde, also this failed completely. The majority in Parliament is turning away from him and his regime, as does the people of Ukraine. And also the Western powers supporting the war turn away from Selensky, as this negative Le Monde article comes as no surprise. The days of Selensky are counted, his reign comes to an end. His enemies in Ukraine are growing, his reputation destroyed. Ukraine is approaching a hard political landing, elites infighting and Russian breakthroughs at critical parts of the front.
