US diverts Patriot systems from Switzerland to Ukraine – after US increased price of connected sale of F-35s by CHF 1.35 billion

Switzerland yesterday received doubled bad news.

The price increase of the Swiss ordered F-35s was the first big disappointment last month. The US unilaterally increased the price by CHF 1.35 billion. Switzerland can accept or cancel the contract. For the moment, diplomats speak.

Now, Switzerland will not receive the connected five Patriot systems … they will be diverted to Ukraine. Switzerland was next to receive Patriots. There was a silent message on the webpage of the Swiss defense department – it will become loud over the weekend.

And Switzerland does not know what will happen to its upfront payment for those Patriots. It is now known publicly how much money was advanced. Switzerland paid CHF 650 million, a quarter of the price. Is it lost to Ukraine, too? Switzerland does not know when the systems will finally be delivered .. and what the will be the final price.
