US military aid for Ukraine is about to cease – The Guardian

The Guardian writes: “In the months before leaving office, Joe Biden made a series of decisions to augment Ukraine’s stockpiles of vital munitions. Toward the end of 2024, the Department of Defense surged hundreds of thousands of artillery rounds, thousands of rockets and hundreds of armored vehicles to Ukraine, and that December, he approved an additional $1.25bn security assistance package for Ukraine, which has enabled the continued flow of US arms ever since (with the exception of the damaging pause ordered by Donald Trump in March).”

As well, according to the Guardian, the Biden Administration left at its end several billion Dollars as available security drawn down facility for Ukraine. As per today, President Trump did not use this facility and Ukraine is just using the 2024 deliveries till they are finished. But even this facility would not last for long and, if needed, Congress will be called to decide for additional Ukraine funding.

As it is not realistic that Trump will continue to fund Ukraine, in particular, in the absence of the Minerals Deal, the Guardian’s hopes are with Europe and that the EU and UK fill the missing money and weapons for Ukraine. The author of the article insists that the Europeans and the UK shall step up and provide the maximum support for Ukraine.

The Guardian must know that Donald Trump called the war in Ukraine “Biden’s War’ and that he does not want to continue it or pay for it. Trump knows that the Europeans cannot and will not act without the US and therefore, the war can be ended as soon as the last US support facility is fully used.
