US official says Ukrainian delegation headed by Budanov agreed with US in secret talks in Abu Dhabi on peace deal – Russia to comment

Finally, secret diplomacy produces some results. It seems that the US, Russian and Ukrainian delegations met secretly on Monday in Ab Dhabi.

US army secretary Dan Driscoll is holding talks in Abu Dhabi with Ukraine’s military intelligence chief Kyrill Budanov and an unknown Russian delegation.

ABCNews reports that “a U.S. official told ABC News on Tuesday that a Ukrainian delegation has agreed with the United States on the terms of a potential peace deal.

United States Army Secretary Dan Driscoll held secret talks on Monday with a Russian delegation in Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates to follow up on this weekend’s talks with Ukraine in Geneva that were intended to move the Ukraine peace process forward, a U.S. official told ABC News.

“The Ukrainians have agreed to the peace deal,” the U.S. official said. “There are some minor details to be sorted out but they have agreed to a peace deal.”

But it is not clear on what peace plan the US and Ukraine agreed. It seems that the original US 28 points plan has been reduced to 19 points and that certain sensitive matters have been dropped.

There is no Russian response, yet.

The Ukrainian delegation headed by Budanov attracts some attention now. Budanov is not usually involved in negotiations nor has he a political or diplomatic profile. He has been very critical of Kiev’s war strategy and warned of Ukraine’s collapse if no peace is found till summer 2025. Nevertheless, Ukraine, while retreating, is still resisting but the perspectives are very dark and Budanov’s prediction of Ukraine’s collapse may realize soon.

Until today, there was no mention of Budanov’s trip to Abu Dhabi and it may be that he traveled without the knowledge of V Selensky and his closest partners who were focused exclusively on the Geneva meeting with the European war nations. Budanov’s role and participation in a secret meeting in Abu Dhabi is therefore, a surprise. Certainly a surprise to the Europeans

As above mentioned, there is no comment yet from Russia, but also there is no comment yet from Selensky regarding the finalization of the peace plan with the US. Does he even know about?

If Budanov acted alone, we will know soon. But he was well received by the US and it seems that Budanov may be a critical element in mastering the Kiev regime. Budanov, an intelligence chief, has knowledge on Kiev’s corruption and may be an important figure for changing the regime’s stubbornness towards the US peace initiative.

Again, the secret meeting in Abu Dhabi is proof of the non-exisiting role of Europe in this peace deal. The EU and the leaders of France, Germany and the UK are not welcome to assist and shall not further disturb.
