According to the Standard: “The United States will no longer act as a mediator in peace negotiations, the State Department has confirmed, signalling a shift in Washington’s role in the ongoing conflict.
It’s not going anywhere… it’s not going to end any time soon,” he said. “It would now be up to them to come to an agreement and stop this brutal, brutal conflict.”
This is terrible news for Ukraine, and for the World. It means that the US has withdrawn from the Ukraine war and will not exercise its power on Ukraine to force the Ukrainian leadership to negotiate a peace agreement with Russia. It shows as well that the US and Russia approach was not helpful to convince European leaders to accept a peace deal as proposed by Donald Trump.
Finally, it is the receipt for V Selensky’s refusal to accept the Trump Deal and not to recognize the reality of the Russian control over some of Ukraine’s territory.
And last, V Selensky’s game around the Minerals Deal to sign with the US was as a great disappointment for Trump. Not only the negotiation behavior of Selensky, but also the fact that the agreement still is not fully signed, is displeasing Trump.
Nevertheless, it is not clear yet to what extent the US is withdrawing from Ukraine or if there remains still a secret understanding regarding supporting Ukraine in the war against Russia.
