Donald Trump’s Envoy Witkoff and US Foreign Secretary Rubio will meet European counterparts today in Paris. The UK will be represented, as well Ukraine.
It is the first time since President Donald Trump took office that all parties on such high level will meet at one table. Therefore, this meetings importance cannot be underestimated.
The meeting concerns the peace initiatives for Ukraine. Witkoff will report to the Europeans about his 4 hours talk with President Putin.
Witkoff has given some information about his meeting with Putin in an earlier interview with Fox. Some general details of Putin’s demands for ceasefire have been disclosed, in particular, the transfer of territories and the NO NATO condition. All of them have been refuted by V Selensky who declared that THE US is incompetent to negotiate the peace with Russia.
The Europeans, in advance to today’s meeting, have already demanded that the US shall increase pressure on Russia to force Russia to an unconditional ceasefire and a Just Peace.
It is expected that the US representatives will outline Russia’s demands and also give a guideline to what the US thinks acceptable. The US will make pressure on its allies and on Ukraine not to oppose to their peace efforts. The US has already made clear, by words of Donald Trump, that Biden’s War in Ukraine shall not continue, that certain conditions of Putin must be accepted and that if otherwise Europe and Kiev will not follow the US, Trump ‘will be out’.
