But maybe it is a realistic opinion when US Vice-President JD Vance says that the war in Ukraine will not end, soon. It is also a statement of Frustration about
– Ukraine’s refusal to follow the demands of its proxy master
– the irrelvance of the signed Minerals Deal
– the opposition of the European leaders to Donald Trump’s peace efforts
– the “njet” from the Russian side and their far reaching demands.
Donald Trump threatened with a US withdrawal from Ukraine if the parties do not move to a compromise. Trump openly criticizes V Selensky for his obtructive behaviour. As well, Trump criticizes the Russian side for not moving faster.
A continuation of the conflict would be considered as a failure of Trump’s foreign policy even though a US withdrawal would be in the US interest. The US does not want an escalation and has no strategic advantage in this continued war, which id Biden’s war and not Trump’s.
Nevertheless, Trump agreed today to weapons sales to Ukraine, not for free anymore, of an amount of USD 50 million. This amount is a small fraction of what has bee delivered by Biden and may not impress the Russians.
Trump also demands that Russia and Ukraine shall talk directly, which also was a recent demand of President Putin. Putin mentioned that the Ukrainian order to forbid negotiations with Russia is still in place and that this interdiction needs to be lifted for substantial talks.
